Music Promotion DIY.
Promotion of your music is a process and the truth is that there is no such thing as an overnight success (so - called overnight successes have actually been doing what they do for years before being discovered and brought to fame). With that being said it is not impossible to develop a following simply because you lack large amounts of cash to throw at an advertising agency or promotion company.
One of the best books available on the subject of do it yourself online promotion is entitled This comprehensive manual of valuable advice and tips is written by professional musician David Nevue - who actually makes a full-time living with his music. I first discovered this amazing book and downloaded it about 3 years ago and began to apply the content with some very positive results including a recent publishing deal. David also has a small collection of other helpful titles on his site - only the best publications get to make it into the bookstore which is good to know since most musicians including myself hate to waste time and money on useless advice.
There's never been a better time to be an independent artist. The rules have changed, and they keep on changing -- for the better. Artists have more power to control their own careers than at any time in history. But change and empowerment can be confusing (especialy when it comes to marketing and sales). This handbook is all about low-cost, do-it-yourself music promotion and has now been updated with four new chapters on Internet music marketing. As seen in the major motion picture The School of Rock ... and in VIBE, Music Connection, Electronic Musician and American Songwriter magazines.
